The Screen is a newsletter by entertainment writer Akos Peterbencze. Oh, hey, that’s me! No, no, I'll take it from here, you mysterious stranger who talks about me in the third person. So I'm your #227889995 film and TV writer on the internet, but I'm different (no, I'm not). I write for magazines like Looper and Paste for money (I quite like it), and I live a lifestyle accordingly. I watch a lot of television (and movies, naturally) because life sucks, and escaping from it became my main activity. You know how it is. Like most people, I have a lot of time to think about important and existential questions, but I rather choose to spend it watching and talking about fictional (and sometimes real) characters who I see daily. Stories get me — and I get them.

I created The Screen to write about new and old stuff without anyone telling me how relevant or timely they are. And you get to read these thoughts (reviews, features, op-eds, and personal essays) for free. Whether you want to or not, that’s your choice. Why should you stick around? Well, because deep down, you are a little bit like me — or you just want a voice to tell you what's worth watching in the sea of streaming services we now are inevitably obsessed with.

And guess what? Sometimes I'll even ramble and review TV shows and films that haven't been released yet. Ain’t that a good deal? I think so. Anyway, I hope you stick around.

If you want to find out whether I'm real or just an algorithm, here are a few places you can find me.
