I rewatched the first two, and I remembered that the second was more fun and dynamic, and my memory served me well. They really leaned into the bonkers aspect of it all, emphasizing the dark humor throughout. So I'd say the second one. That said, I really don't remember the other sequels at all, just that they were simply bad or mediocre. But a friend of mine's favorite is also the 5th, and he recommended to rewatch that as well because it ties into the first one as you said. So I might do that at some point.
Yes--I remember 2 fondly as well, although I can't remember the setup. I remember the protagonist and the clever twist at the end with Dr. Kalarjian. Time for me to rewatch 2 and you to rewatch 5. :)
