Super interesting read. I also noticed the increase in people making things like autism, cancer survivor, ADHD... part of their core personality. I don't mind it and I guess it's the natural cycle when something becomes more widely talked about. But I like the idea of describing ourselves by our positive traits like "kind" "loyal"... Maybe one day!
Thank you, Aurelie. I think we used to be like that, describing ourselves with simple adjectives, whether positive or negative, but now it's all about these empathy-trigger phrases. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing that these "conditions" are being talked about more widely, but we kinda took it to the extreme, and now it's all that or virtually nothing.
Oh yes I totally agree we're in the annoying phase or normalization. My hope is that it'll slowly become just more widely accepted and people won't feel the need to label themselves as much. Seeing how fast the social media trends come and go this hopefully happens soon
